CMS Nick
I was trying to ask where to locate the patches for the 604th as I have probably misplaced mine or they got lost over
the years. I arrived in the 604th Apr of 60 and left Apr of 64, got married over there, lived in Erding, played Softball and
won 86th AD championship in 63 finally. Started the Drill Team on Freising and left.
Served my two tours in Viet Nam probably as did many others but got smart in 67 on my second and got back to Germany
at Det 7, 601st in Regensburg with our unit at Landshut by the Czech Border. Did that for a couple of years before we moved
to Sembach. I had the TSC 53 van, first in Germany and first to drive the monster through all the cute little towns but try
that in a 6 by with a 43 foot van towed behind it. Got to be F/Sgt as additional duty and had the first female assigned to
a mobile unit in the field, what fun that was. Tours at MAC twice, Westober AFB great, Guam outstanding and the Gem of them
all McChord AFB, finally made it as a Manpower Superintendent at MAC and they let me go to there. Funny thing on the way to
McChord, Col in charge told me not to go as I wouldn't ever make E-9, he was right as the next 5 CMS (one a year for MAC)
all went to HQ, way the ball bounces but I was better off as I landed the cream of the crop jobs. I got to be a GS-11 Intel
Analyst and SSO for the 2nd Ranger Bn, 75 Rgr Rgt "Rangers Lead the Way", and to work with the best the army has to offer,
fine young men one and all. My pride and joy was to be a part of taking down Noriega in Panama, the 1st Gulf War, Somalia,
Haiti and many others that these brave young men took part in. I lost two good youngs soldiers in Panama and 37 wounded, my
S-2 among them but he is full Colonel and he broke my ankles on the jump in. We were and are still good friends.
The AS2 is LTC and doing some strange things in DC.
Well main question was the patch and got carried away with the heroes I knew along the way. Just a happy retired guy
dipping three times.
